Cloudd thanks for writing your thoughts...

There is no way of telling until the Dr see's you to know if your a candidate for any treatment. Also it must be deemed by your-self if you want to ultimately go ahead with any treatment as it is your eyes after all.

A price quote from past ex-patients who does not keep up-to-date data on inflation/currency/demand & supply (moves-up or down) will not be accurate as asking the Hotel/Clinic in Greece, and because just like going on holiday if you unadvicably start to ask the other Hotel tourists how much they payed for flights and accomodation ...that can spoil your holiday needlessly when it should be not like that on holiday. Its not a time for bargin hunting and second guessing has no point when the info. can be got from the "horses mouth". It depends on many things and the best people to ask are the people you will be visiting. Of course there may be logistical issues which can be answered by where the Clinic actually thinks its best for you to stay.

Anyway I hope you are a good candidate and I hope it will all turn out fine for you... but as with everything man-made there are limits to any treatment that can be performed but I hope everything will turn out fine for you (in that you are an ideal candidate)... if you are a good candidate your chosen Dr will discuss this with you, no doubt, and also discuss the follow up care you need to follow.

Anyhow you must feel comfortable that all the avenues has been evaluated before opting for one, such as this one, and please discuss all this with your very own Dr too.

All the best

Well I sure would NOT consider this as a vacation.

I am doing my research as most of us that have not been treated are here. I would like to know roughly what the price that Zeus paid whether he post it here or message me privately I would love to know.

Hello cloudd again...Why wont you say your name my friend?I suppose people dont call you cloudd...lol.Anyway,you said you have contacted the institute before so why havent you asked about the cost?
I think your only worry is the cost that it shouldnt be because you are facing a serious eye problem that will affect your life permanent if you dont do anything. How old are you?please read my posts and when you reply, reply to my questions also. You must understand ^cloudd^ that i am not the institute.i am just a patient who happens to meet Quintrix along the keratoconus way and i express my experience and my thoughts.

From your topographies your corneas are very thick for keratoconic corneas so thats a good sign. For more information visit the institute and you will make the final desicion.

All the best,

P.S I hope you ll find from your research ,you says you do, the best approach to fight your eye disease.

I know my cornea's are very thick for KC I am very lucky compared to a lot of people that find out they have KC. I found out I had KC because I pay attention to details graphics/video editing and I noticed my good eye(left eye) started to get worse than my bad eye(right eye) . This lead me to noticing a drop shadow and many doctors giving me the impression I was making up my vision problem. I went to get a consultation for (lasik/prk) They found KC.  I was denied thank god!

Anyways I have done my research I am lucky because I have more time than most.

My conclusions:
Greece quote
Crosslinking (2000 EURO) per eye + PRK (2500 EURO) per eye so this is going to cost $12 500 USD in greece for both eyes

Dortmond Germany quote
Crosslinking 630 EURO per eye ($880 USD per eye or $1720 USD for both eyes)

There is a huge difference in cost for crosslinking.

In Dortmund, the cost is even less if you do both eyes (about 970 euro for both).

Hello jr.To begin with,i would like to tell that collagen cross-linking started from germany. Its obvious then that in the country it was borned the price should be significant lower.I study economics and the first thing you learn is the model of supply and demand. The institute here in Greece is the only one with this kind of equipment.Note that when you do cross linking here, every visit afterwrads for topographies and all the check ups you do,you dont, you dont pay for anything. You told me julia that it is a little difficult to communicate with your doctor or an another patient cant find his doctor but here from my experience when you want to know sth you just call and they will accept you immediately. My point is that they care.

The prices that Mark has said are only for the collagen cross-linking and not for the PRK.I dont know why he is doing that and i dont care. Also, not to forget that you are treating by Doctor Kanellopoulos.Put his name on the google machine.

For me guys money isnt an issue. We are talking about eyes here and some of us havent understand it yet.

I am tired of hearing bull****s from anyone who is disrespecting scientists that they have dedicated their lifes in order to give us hope.I compare the price when i go to the supermarket or for clothes not for my eyes.I think its tragic.

I am sure mark that if you dont have any money and you are completely broke and tell that to the doctor I AM SURE THAT HE will do it for free.

I think there has been a misunderstanding here somewhere.

This board is used for helping KCer's and I feel like some people are are getting angry because I ask for information regarding the price. I think everyone should know how much the going rate is. Some of use will need to find funding try for a loan, borrow money or whatever to be able to get the funds and treatment we need. So the earlier the a rough cost is known the easier it will be. Many of us who do not have money sititing around should start searching for ways to fund a way out of this nightmare.

Please don't take anyone of this the wrong way because all of us KCer's need each other.
