No, I do not know how many patients he's done cxl on. Quite a few it would seem.
But, he is getting a new laser, so I'd give him a month or two to get comfortable with it.
Let someone else be a guinea pig.

Hello to you all,

If it is difficult to perform the combined treatment with the PRK you should play it safe and perform the collagen crosslinking alone. You will have again a window for visual correction afterwards at some time.Perhaps with more money you will choose the best surgeon and laser technology.

Do not complicate things if experience is not for granted or other important things. The crosslinking procedure is safe easy and routine for most of the doctors but perfoming laser ablations to a thin cornea might be aggressive if you dont know exactly what you are dealing with.

Just telling my thoughts though.I think everybody is trying for the best and i am glad.

Best regards,

thanks cessna, and zeus i second that idea, I will definetly email the office to see how many patients have had the procedure done by doctor lin and the results. zeus do you know if xlinking first waiting 6 months then topo prk is better then do both at the same time? I mean would the recovery time be less and the results be the same.

When I spoke with Dr Lin he explained he uses the topo-prk laser to actually remove the epithelium+bowmans layer to do the CXL.

So you get both at the same time. Depending on how thick your cornea is you may be able to get good correction. In my case it's so thin he'd just take off the minimum necessary to do the CXL.
