Hi Ulrike, You know something you have just made me realise that I need to chuck out everything from my bathroom as well LOL. I have made changes to some off the main things like water and I am feeling really good...but some of the other things have to be done as well....but mostly I forgot about it until you reminded me of it....so I thank you Ulrike. I will tell you why I think it is important to me....as I vividly remember a few times when I used to go for a swim and afterwards go for a shower; that my eyes used to sting so badly after using some shampoo which I used to keep, to take with me when i go swimming....Now I don't know if there was/are use buy dates or if a batch was faulty but once it hit my eyes, as I showered, it just used to sting the hell out of my eyes....(I at first thought it was the chlorine they use in swimming pools) Now stortly after this time is when I started getting kc. I don't know if there is any link there but I don't think these chemicals are good for the body especially if your body is more predisposed to being sensitive to these sort of things than most....and by the time you find out....it may be too late!!! You are right Ulrike...this modern world is geared up to make a quick buck....So we must look out for our own health. I mean I was looking for a Lasik induced Ectasia web-site(due to a previous topic)...and what did I find...I just could not beleive it ....i found a forum which was just crammed packed with people telling off there Lasik induced Ectasia Here is the forum I was talking about.....I think this is just an out-rage!!!....and you know what, on most of the sections you have to pay a monthly fee to view or to post as well!!!....I was deeply saddened by seeing posts from people who have been failed by the system again and again after these poor soles had been stung by the Lasik glossy media campaigns (the great fraud). I mean in contrast look at Prof. Lombardi and his team....he could have chased the money and had an easier path if he had gone the same way as the KC mainstream...in to contacts and transplants...he could have...but he did not, he chose to use the best treatments available on the planet for kc because he went more further to do so than anyone else...instead of just leaving it for something easier.....He told us straight (many many years ago to me!) about the side effects of contact lenses and transplants when others was turning a blind eye too them (I mean look at all the studies which more than proves this mans honesty and intelligence). Prof. Lombardi has gone the extra mile and has bothered to go all out to find the best solutions for us...for the reasons, that he understands and cares... This rare illness is being controlled from the top...the top few...still wanting to keep there postion and there faces....and in turn to carry on as normal with contact lenses and transplants....they don't care...all they care about is the money.... Anyway it has been noted that people with a higher IQ with higher thinking abilties are who will understand all this....and discover in the mists' of all this hyped up mainstream treatments.....this little "Gem" called mini-ark Catch you later.....

Hi Ulrike,

Thank you for your kind words... It is very difficult sometimes to understand the politics of the Keratoconus world we have all found ourselves in. For me it is very hard to understand for instance why procedures like Mini Ark are condemmed without review whilst anyone with a shiney new clinic, a laser and an advertizing team can actively promote Lasik to the masses. Once again the computerized, touch of a button mentality wins out. For many this is the path, they feel that if something is laser guided then it has eliminated the risk of human error. But in saying this I'm sure that in the hands of a skilled surgeon even Lasik has its place.  But for me it was exactly the opposite... I felt if someone had dedicated their life to learning a surgical skill, if they were taught by purhaps the greatest refractive surgeon that ever lived... then they would know that no two corneas are the same and that the calculations of an experienced mind far outweigh that of a programmed computer. I have found that there are two distinct types of people in this equastion... Those who are guided by convention, that need comfirmation from whomever they consider an authority before they would even consider something like mini ark, and those who seek out the answers for themselves and make a calculated personal decision. But what of corneal graft this procedure has been reviewed by the best that eye surgery has to offer, there is report after report showing how fantastic its results are... Keratoconus is given between a 95 and 97% success rate!!! 97% that a very impressive number... If I had just been diagnosed with Kc then I wouldn't have a worry in the world. How unlucky would I have to be to fall into that tiny 3% of unhappy patients. To me this is the great lie, of course these numbers in no way reflect the pain and daily struggle of a large portion of PK recipiants. Of course as with anything there are those who are more than pleased with their graft... but 97%???

Again some reading my words will think that I am demonising the 'Accepted' treatments for Kc so as to shepard people toward mini ark. All I am trying to do is push mini ark into the light so that maybe others who suffer this disease will have another option to consider. The negative aspects that have been uncovered on this board were never mentioned during my many visits to eye specialists... I am truely greatfull to Prof. Lombardi for not being one of these people.

Regards,

Hari

Hi my friends

I share your thoughts and I am also sometimes so angry when I see how the things work in our world. Most of the doctors do not care and think by theirselves anymore but are manipulated by the industry forgetting that they had to swear an oath to do the best for their patients, the commerce is trying to tell the people what to eat, what to buy ... and watching the commercial spots where they offer us "rubbish" and "poison" I could explode asking myself if they do not have the feeling of doing something wrong  even in the pharmacies, where I have looked for a toothpaste some time ago I recognized that they are selling toxic chemical substances in their products, I wanted to ask the person there if he can sleep at night working in the medicine sector and selling the people harmful things, but I did nothing, cause I do not know where to start. Asking the doctors in the hospitals ???  The owners of the large supermarkets ???  In all the other stores ???? Sometimes I think about the sentence I heard in a movie one day. - The human race is condemed to destoy itself -

And I would wish that all those who are running in the wrong direction would wake up and that we do not harm ourselves, others, the nature, the environment anymore. Illnesses could be prevented, nature protected ... It would close the circle ... Well, maybe this is to idealistic and to much illusion ...

Due to the KC we had a break in this fast-moving and non-realizing world. We had a lot of time for thinking, what we have made wrong, what is going wrong, what we have to change in our lifes, now we are on the positive way and are regaining our sight and now I am asking myself very often are the others the blind ones ??

I hope that our loved Dottore will not share the fate of many other intelligent/brilliant man whose work was honoured many many many years after their lifetime.

Sending you a lot of love and good night to you

Ulrike

Hello my newest best friend You know everything you say comes across so well, you have a way with words

You know Ulrike, it the "Rat Race", things are now gone too far in the modern world, I can see many people disillusioned, with control of there own lifes taken away from their hands. There is a careflly planned illusion which is created in the media so that people keep companies healthy before the person on the street.

Its a bit like the ever lasting light bulb or the car that runs on water...they have invented it but not mass produced as ulimately big business buy up the plans as not to mess up there on going business....do you really think that they have not made such things. There are customers who want these things but it does not keep share holders happy!!!

My college tutor invented a battery charger that recharges ordinary batteries you find in the home (it was a really simple device made up of a few really cheap components).....well after a long story the patent for his invention was brought up by "duracell" (the battery makers) and kept by them, never to be released!!!

So there is a lot of things that does not met the eye....and all so many things which goes on behind the scences!!!

Very interesting posts Ulrike

Hi everyone

Thought to keep you informed about the developments of the eyes after Mini-ARK.
The left eye had one operation and one correction and at present I have 100 % sight with glasses.
(Only small restrictions, slight shadows during the day and slight problem with night vision)

On the right eye which was already in a very difficult stage (conus and thickness) we had to do the operation in two steps, the correction was end of June 2005, only 4 weeks ago, so it is still to early to tell you about
improvements in sight. Once again I have to be patient, but if we KCs have to learn something it is patience, no ? However, one very important fact I would like to tell you about the thickness.
It is said that after Mini-ARK the thickness of the cornea will improve. In my case before the operation it was 380 microns and one small point (probably the apex) with just appr. 250 microns. Now the last measurement
(1 1/2 year after the operation) was 420 microns ! For me this is the evidence that the theory - the newly produced cells provoked by the incisions will strengthen the cornea and increase the thickness - is true.
It was 40 microns increase in my worse eye ! And it means that I am now out of the risky area.
(No more very thin points and general thickness in the middle of over 400 microns).

So far, the good news keep you informed.

Lots of love and take care wherever you are

Ulrike

Hi Yarsky

You can still think about the possibility to do the Mini-ARK on the other eye later on no ?

This would be a nice trip to Roma and passing a few days there. Although I am a German girl I think Roma is surely more beautylul than Dresden.

Take care, all the best, and I hope you will recover your sight soon.

Ulrike

Hi Ulrike my long lost buddy

Glad to her that your back in to the swing of things with your life and that your out of trouble with your kc...really happy for you as from what you write it is clear that your a wonderful person...

There was a couple of lines from one of your previous posts that was just sheer greatness and inspiring ...and it has always stuck out in my memory banks...
Here is the line below...

"...we need to see that we have to care for our health, our body, our brain, that this body has been given to us that we care and are doing the best for ourselves in a fast-food and throw-away society. This sounds a bit like the fundamental things we are told in the religion, doing the best for us and others and love ourselves and the others, living hand in hand with the nature.
I choose this to be my end sentence and wish you all lots of love..."

....all the best friend

....from your loyal friend Quintrix
