Hi Ulrike,

Its great to hear the progress of a fellow mini ark'er... Your results sound great. I'm also very happy with my results, I think that the most fun thing is that I can now drive completely uncorrected... I drive everywhere (just because I can!!!). Also not having to worry about contact lenses (I found my old lenses yesterday when I was doing some cleaning... they were in a big dusty box at the top of my wardrobe and thats where they belong!!!!).

I think that the thing for others thinking about having mini ark to remember is that its not the surgery that varys... its the keratoconus.

Each of us has a different KC fingerprint and this means that no two recoveries are the same... one person may regain his target vision quickly whereas another may take more time... you said it best when you mentioned the word 'Patience'... too often in this modern world we want it all and we want it NOW! Reality suggests that the important things take time.

All the best,

Hari

Hi Ulrike,
Rome is a beutiful city, but I am particularly devoted to Dresden :)
You see it seems that I understand, intuitevly, almost all the physics that is a basis of x_linking, how and why it works. I'll try to draw the same picture as I have of x_linking of miniARK. Do you undestand the procedure?
Cheers,
Y.

Hi Hari

Nice to hear that you are doing well

Hello Yarsky

To be honest, I do not exactly know how the cross-linking works. The reason is that I had aready decided for the Mini-ARK which was in my case surely the best desicion so I did not inform me much about other alternatives. (I think it is not good to mix up different technics on one and the same eye)

Take care both of you

Ulrike

Ulrike, thanks!

But I meant, do you understand how and why does miniARK work?

Hi Sajeev

Many many thanks for your nice e-mail Now I had a look on the bottom of page 2, as I was directly switching to page 3 I had apparently not seen it before, I beg your pardon my friend, sorry for that (This problem with entering in the forum from the office PC is also really a silly thing, if it would work I could write in the forum in the breaks ... hope I will find a solution for that) Have a nice evening C.U.

Hi Yarsky

Mini-ARK is working with the fact that the perfect placed incisions (every conus is different from the other so it is never a standard operation) will form the cornea and the new cells provoked by the incisions will increase also the thickness.

So if everything goes on without complications you will regain your sight and strengthen the cornea. In some cases one operation is enough in some cases there are one or two corrections necessary (depends on the stage and the form of the conus and the thickness of the cornea).

You can contact Dottore Lombardi for questions he is always helpful and he can explain the technique surely better than I do.

Best wishes

Ulrike

Hello friends

I thought it might be time for an update

Left eye - stage II

Meanwhile operated 2 times with Mini-ARK - with glassed regained 100 % sight

Right eye - stage IV

Meanwhile operated 4 times with Mini-ARK - colours and forms have come back but still no reading possible ... which means my results of the seeing test are still depressing ... however Dottore Lombardi told us that we have to be patient and wait more time, improvement will come ... hope he is right ...

Well, I am still of the opinion that the Mini-ARK ist one of the best solutions to KC, but the sooner the better ... I am the living example I think ...

I just can give anyone who is thinking to undergo Mini-ARK the advise do not wait ... stage I and II results are the best. If I had known this possibility earlier maybe the situation on my right eye would not be so complicated ...

Take care everybody

Best wishes

Ulrike

Thanks for you post Ulrike,

Just wanted to say that advanced kc seems to be the one which has limited options for... unless your very lucky... or don't mind wearing contacts afterwards (which happens a lot after Intacs).

At the moment your in the same postion as someone with kc who wears glasses with a worser eye... and there are lots of people who does have a worser eye and wear glasses!

I read somewhere that everyone... even those with out kc has a dominate eye which they use more to see... (i think about 85% of people)

Its great though that your in a good situation with your vision compared to before. When someone has one good eye and can see at least something from the other eye (the worst eye) then with both eyes open you should be able to see as if you have two good eyes!

Anyway, thanks again for posting! and wishing you all the best!

P.S I hope your enjoying the football, you are hosting it very well. So thanks for that!
