it was a long journey aprox 38hrs it took for me to reach the city of hyderabad from my city amritsar. i dont know what went wrong on the way my eyes were perfectly normal on reaching, but the next day when i opened my eyes they were seriously swelled up and bloodshot red , i definitely thought something was not right so i dropped the idea of wearing the lenses now watch what interesting thing takes place === i am examined under slitlamp microscopy by the optometerist first who says i did not sleep well in my journey and the reason for the bloodshot redness is some allergy there was no discharge but they said it looked like conjunctivitis he further reitrates i should sleep well this night so that they might be able to see me with my lenses the following day i waited for my doctor Dr pravin v krishna to come ( his presence makes me feel secured a remarkable talented person) something which i have learnt from past many years that a kc patient needs a surgeon or a doctor who knows quiet much about the problem alongwith optometerist who is not that much sure of the situation when he looked through the sl lamp he says there are infiltrations on the cornea at an axis of 11 - 12 - and 1 o clock position which might not get healed up that fast as the optometerist think observe the difference of opinion i am advised not to put any antibiotic topically but only preservative free celluvisc unit doses . the doctors decide to take 10 12 digital images through slit lamp which have come out quiet different to what i thought , i have quiet a protusion which i will show you all soon as i get back to my city on coming friday 26th jan having a boring stay here as i am confined to my hotel room without watching television , am just able to hear cd 's am blind presently alone , nobody has accompanied me , i was quiet sure that nothing will go wrong ,was wearing lenses regularly for 6-8 hrs since december progression has taken place , i am taking life differently as it is becoming more and more constricted . the doctors want to see me time and again so i am showing no haste to rush back home new parameters are going to take place this monday , dr pravin has blamed the fitting of the lenses to this present problem as i had to rush back home after getting my scleral lenses last november they seemed okay when i got them but had posed some problem or the other ,

added on 23rd march 2006

doctors said that they received many instances of others travelling by train having similar allergy with infiltrations

i am back after a long tiring journey which ended on the night of 26th jan , it commenced at 5:30 am of 25th jan every exclamation seems to be less to express horrible journey . a long hug was badly required from my near and dear ones to wash away the memories of those 10 days and a tablet of diclofenac muscle relaxant was also terribly needed as i got the worst sleeper one could imagine . things at hyderabad concluded in this way that both my sclerals have to be changed for a better fitting . scleral of right eye - the design of scleral needs to be totally changed at the haptic level , the inner area needs to be more bigger according to the cone as things were congested and tight , the place where the lens rests on my sclera the channels from haptic to the optic zone would be also changed t , the liquid which remain sealed in the scleral would enable a better oxygen supply to my eye scleral of left eye -they are changing the power of this lens so that i dont need to wear spects over it to neutralise the power my confocal scan has taken place in which the counts have come somewhere near 2250 respectively of right and left my orb scan has also been taken which is not showing any significant change i met twin sisters from Uganda and a boy in his late teens from singapore who are with more advanced Kc as what i have , i asked my doctor of how much time i have for surgery to be performed , to which he replied that time cannot be predicted and pkp would be performed only after the outcome of hydrops i asked him about the changes in vision that are taking place and i am not able to see better of which he replied that due to stretching of cornea there are irregularities being taken place at the epithilial level and endothelial level .irregular epithilial is the reason for deteriorated vision , the reason for my vision loss of my left eye

i am still wondering , prof kohlhaas has  commented on the performance of my vision which is quiet good  when he saw my topo reports he has said that  though corneal thinning is quiet intense  , but  crosslinking can take place with  less uv radiation ,

i have a  friend in germany who is ready to help me out  regarding the visit if there is gonna be .

in india the eye institute i visit so far have not seen any case of crosslinking which is another negative point

in any case i am a contender for a graft sooner or later  , will the visit to germany be fruitful???

Vik,

If you look at one of the slides on out home page it shows a graph of the UV that needs to be used depending on the thickness of the cornea, by the way of a graph... only the cornea gets the UV and is crosslinked.

About India not seeing a patient who has had the procedure is not significant, concidering that this is happening in "our small little world" which is KC, where people think that contact lenses and transplants are ok.

I think your cornea's can be thickened and strengthened, which is the main thing which will help you, as your corneas, are fairly thin (to stop any possible hydrops event or the need of a corneal transplant).

Currently there is only one method which has been shown by scientifically to stop KC which is X linking (as you know).
