My KC experince and some queries which i need answers
Permalink

Hi Guys,

It all started in 2006(my late 16's). First thing i noticed was four moons. But looking short or long distances was not a problem. Then slowly in 2007 seeing long distance became a problem. I went eye care hospital(in my town) and they gave me specs and everything went fine. Untill i found that i was unable see long distance object with my left eye  even with glasses on. I was young. I dont know what was the issue. Then days passed. Then long distance changed to short in left eye(still everything is fine in my right eye). Then finally i went to big hospital(Sankara Nathrayala Chennai) in 2009 and found that my cornea is cone like shaped. That what i used to say till last month. There they did some test some big equipments. And finally i got lenses which saved the day (i thought). I left and i started using that life saver(which i felt very hard to wear). After one and a half year i stopped using that. i choosed specs(till last month). After five years i checked my left eye issue again to end that doubling, ghost, glare what ever i saw. I went back to That Big Hospital in chennai with some queries. And with all queries answered i came to know that i have KERATOCONUS .finally a name to cone shaped cornea. Then in hospital itself i learned many things about KERATOCONUS.  Till now i dont face any issues in my right eye.

The again same thing happened RGB lenses. I had to choose those irritators to have quality vision.(mainly because its economic). I heard about scleral lenses but i can't afford them now.

My queries:

  1. Does wearing lenses will cure karetoconus?
  2. Since my right eye plays a dominant role. Are there any possiblities of it getting keratoconus issue.
  3. Can i cure this thing herbally.(vegatables)
  4. When the irregularity will get stable.

1). Lenses won't cure keratoconus 2) right eye could get KC or if it already has it, it could progress at any time 3) I don't believe there are any herbal remedies 4) KC can stabilize in your 40-50's.

Please answer this as well:

1.How to cure this keratoconus in my left eye.
2.How to prevent the right eye from getting ketratoconus.

Thanks in advance!.

Cross linking (cxl) is the answer to both. If the right cornea is in the initial phase they can cross link it to prevent progression. It will also stabilize the left eye and stop its progression. I had this done in November and my scans from 2 weeks ago still show progressive improvements in corneal shape and thickness. Research it. There are all kinds of "add on" treatments as well that different doctors and different areas are doing. Most countries are doing CXL , but it is not approved in United States so look elsewhere if you need to go out of your country.
