17 year old son recently diagnosed -- Need help in the NY area

My 17 year old son was just diagnosed with kerataconus last month.  We went to Dr. Peter Hersh, a doctor, who is running clinical trials for cross-linking. He felt that my son was an excellent candidate for cross linking.  He did not have room in his study for anyone else under 18.  However, when we go back to see him at the very end of March, if my son's eyes worsen, he will get him into the clinical trial.  Dr. Hersh was talking about epi-off cross-linking.

At this point, my son does not even need to wear glasses -- his vision in one eye is 20/30 (without glasses) and I think slightly better in the other eye.   So, he's in the earliest of stages.  I was reading about epi-on vs. epi-off.  I would feel a bit better, at this time, for my son, to undergo crosslinking with epi-on.  Does anyone know of a Dr. on the east coast, and preferably in the NY area, that does cross linking with epi on, with a fair amount of success?  Has anyone heard of Dr. Jodi Luchs in Wantagh, Long Island?

Thank you in advance for your help

Hi Door60,

Sorry to hear about your son having KC

Have you called Dr Donnesfields office? I was reading that he does do CXL under informed consent. He might do this for Epi on if your very keen, although he may or may not recommend it.

Here is a recent thread from one of his patients

Good luck, Megan
