Thanks for Reply. I called them, but they do not accept any insurance. And my insurance do pay for scleral lenses full cost. So no point paying money out of pocket for it.

It is true that we do not accept assignment for vision plans.  The reason is that they will not pay our full fee and they will not permit us to collect the balance from the patient.  We either have to accept what they pay and take a significant loss or not play by their rules.  Patients do have the option of filing with their insurance companies on their own and being reimbursed.  We have many keratoconus patients who have greatly benefitted from our unique and patented technologies, and we just keep getting better at what we do.  Frankly if you had come to us in the beginning, you would have avoided the unpleasantness you have experienced.

Hi,

I am new to the forum and read your post. Unfortunately, i have no information to help with respect to finding a provider for scleral lenses.

However, i would like to ask you for your assistance in completing a college research paper I have been given the task of completing for my English class. Below is a little info about me. I will be checking this forum hourly to see if I get any responses back.

Hi I am 48 years old was diagnosed with keratoconous when I was very young. I had my first corneal transplant in 1982 and the other in 1984. Currently I am stable. I tried contact lenses but because my eyes are small/tight I can feel the contacts in my eyes and do not like the uncomfortable feeling.

I like probably like many of you have had issues with my vision that has affected my life somewhat, particularly now that I am enrolled in a two-year college program. All the reading takes a toll on my eyes.

I have been assigned a research paper in my English glass and I choose to research my/our condition keratoconous because I realize how little I know about current/new treatments.

During my initial research, I discovered this forum and a couple of other ones. I am hoping to hear from some of you so that I can communicate with other like myself.

I am looking forward to hearing from all of you who desire to share your experiences, successes, and wisdom. Hopeful, I can also gather some info for my research paper ASAP.

Cordially,

Amanda

Vision Specialists of North Dallas were the best for scleral lenses after I wasted time with so many fitters.  Dr Steve Kurtin runs the place, he's super friendly and know his stuff (fit me within the hour).  Dont waste your time anywhere else

Thanks for Information.

I have already been to dr steve kurtin. He got me scleral lenses after 7 visits, those lenses are lying at home as they are not comfortable and don't give me good vision. and I am end up wearing my old scleral lenses. And looking for new dr who can fit me with better scleral lenses.  you must be very lucky person that you get your fit in just one visit. I have been to many doctor in US but  I had to make 5-6 visit to get good fit with good vision.
